This past weekend Team Philadelphia’s Pee Wee A American team traveled to Lake Placid to participate in the CAN/AM Tournament.

During the season the Princeton Tigers were a thorn in their side, having beaten the Pee Wee A American team 6 – 1 and 4 – 1 in previous games.

Team Philadelphia’s first opponent in the tournament? The Princeton Tigers. With the same result. The Tigers defeated Team Philadelphia 6 – 1.

After losing to the New Jersey Devils 3 – 1 in game two and tying the Rye Rangers 2 – 2 in game three, Team Philadelphia entered the medal round as the fourth seed. Their opponent? The number one seed Princeton Tigers.

But this is Lake Placid where many amazing moments and miracles happen, and the fourth game between the Tigers and Team Philadelphia was no exception.

Not letting the past come into play and coming off a strong performance against the Rangers, Team Philadelphia defeated the Tigers 5 – 0 with Brayden Doyle scoring the fifth goal in the third period with a wrist shot from just inside the offensive zone blueline that went through the goalie’s five hole. Despite fighting a fever the entire tournament, Doyle was the epitome of the team’s spirit: not giving up, playing hard and sacrificing his own circumstances for the betterment of the his team.

As for the Tigers? The lost to Team Philadelphia knocked them out of the gold medal game.
