Team Philadelphia’s Pee Wee A National headed south this past weekend to take on the first place Southern Maryland Sabres for a two game EJEPL series and came away with winning both games. Team Philadelphia won the first game 8 – 2 and then the second game 4 – 1.

Team Philly's stingy defense kept the potent Sabres offense in check and only allowed three goals in two games.

Goaltender Bruno Streit, whose efforts included rushing out of the net to break up a loose puck just inside the blue line, was solid between the pipes in game one. In game two, goalie Matthew Cieslukowski stood on his head, only allowing one goal on a penalty shot. Cieslukowski also had a fantastic poke check to knock the puck away from the Sabres’ top scorer on a breakaway.

The offense wasn't too shabby either, pouring in 12 goals in two games, including going 3 for 3 on the power play. Nine different players pick up a point. Max Stewart led the way with four goals, including two short-handed. Aleksander Vukasovic had three goals, with two coming on the power play. Aleks Kepiro netted two and picked up an assist.

The victories moved Team Philadelphia ahead of the Sabres in the EJEPL standings and into second place. Pee Wee A National opens their DVHL slate this coming weekend with an away game on Saturday against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms Youth and a home game on Sunday against the Philadelphia Blazers.
